Beckham, currently in India on a three-day visit as UNICEF‘s Goodwill Ambassador, had earlier watched the exciting India vs New Zealand World Cup 2023 semifinal at Wankhede Stadium. Mukesh Ambani, the head of Reliance Industries and owner of the Mumbai Indians IPL team, presented Beckham with a Mumbai Indians jersey featuring the iconic No. 7.

This event added another remarkable chapter to Beckham’s memorable Mumbai visit, which included a dinner hosted by Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja and an interaction with Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma.

During the World Cup semifinal, Beckham not only witnessed India’s triumph but also enjoyed an unforgettable experience at Wankhede Stadium. Accompanied by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Beckham toured the iconic stadium and played a friendly mini-football session with Indian players. While sitting in the stands, he watched Virat Kohli’s historic achievement as the cricketer broke Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI hundreds.

During an interview with BCCI, Beckham shared insights into his inaugural visit to India, expressing his excitement about meeting children in various cities, including Gujarat. He stated, “I have been busy visiting several cities, interacting with multiple children, and soaking in the high energy.” This visit not only underlines Beckham’s commitment to philanthropy but also marks a series of exceptional encounters and experiences during his stay in India.
