Europe (Commonwealth Union)_ Mr Sunak is beginning his reshuffle with a general election likely to take place within the next 12 months.

Suella Braverman was asked to leave the job this morning by Rishi Sunak with James Cleverly appointed as her replacement.

When he took over as prime minister, Mr Sunak reappointed her less than a week later.

Today marks the second time Ms Braverman lost the job of home secretary after resigning from Liz Truss’s government, breaking the ministerial code.

Rishi Sunak has named James Cleverly the new Home Secretary after Suella Braverman was fired today from the Cabinet, after writing an unauthorised article that slammed the Met Police.

Ms Braverman wrote a newspaper article last week, that accused the police of “playing favourites” as she criticised the Metropolitan Police’s handling of a controversial pro-Palestinian march for Armistice Day.
