Road infrastructure is being progressed at a rapid pace in the country. The government of India wants to increase the efficiency of the roads between the major cities. They think the best way would be by building expressways that allow access to controlled roads and increase everyone’s safety. They are hoping to build 5 expressways in India.

Delhi- Mumbai Expressway

Stretching over 1,250 kilometers, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is supposed to become India’s longest access-controlled highway. This ambitious project will significantly lessen travel time between the two major metropolitan cities and bring many towns and regions along the route into the fold of rapid development. It will improve connectivity, facilitate trade, and stimulate economic growth in the nearby areas.

Bangalore-Chennai Expressway

The Bangalore-Chennai Expressway will join the busy cities of Bangalore and Chennai, which are the two major hubs of commerce and technology in South India. This high-speed corridor will improve connectivity between the two cities, lessen travel time, and improve trade and business activities. It will also benefit the industrial belt along the route, attracting investment and encouraging economic development.

Purvanchal Expressway

The Purvanchal Expressway is a 340-kilometer-long project aimed to connect many districts in Uttar Pradesh, which is a populous state in northern India. This expressway will provide continuous connectivity to the eastern part of the state while promoting economic growth and development in the region. It will also facilitate tourism, trade, and investments in the area.

Delhi- Katra Expressway

The Delhi-Katra Expressway is an upcoming project that will join the national capital, Delhi, with the holy city of Katra, the base camp for the revered Vaishno Devi shrine. This expressway will provide a faster and more convenient mode of travel for many pilgrims and also increase tourism in the region. It is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and create employment opportunities.

Ganga Expressway

The Ganga Expressway is a prominent project that is under process in Uttar Pradesh. The total length of the project is 1047km, of which 594km has been approved. This highway will run parallel to the Ganga River, by covering all the prominent cities in Uttar Pradesh. It will cover cities like Prayagraj, Meerut, Unnao, Budaun, Sambhal, Chandausi, Tilhar, Bangarmau, Raebareli, Hapur, and Siyana. It is expected to lessen travel time from 12 hours to six hours between Meerut and Prayagraj.
