Global leaders cheer Modi’s historic victory

India (Commonwealth Union)_ The world’s largest democratic event has finally elected its leader, with Modi clinching the majority in India’s mammoth elections. Accordingly, numerous global leaders have conveyed their congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his triumph in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Hailing from diverse regions spanning Asia, Europe, Africa, West Asia, and the Caribbean, these leaders have extended their felicitations to PM Modi for his victory in the general elections. Noteworthy among them are leaders from Nordic nations like Denmark and Norway, who have also lauded PM Modi for his electoral success.

Additionally, prominent figures such as UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, US President Joe Biden, European Council President Charles Michel, Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, Singapore PM Lawrence Wong, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, and Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu have also expressed their congratulations. Furthermore, leaders from the G20 nations, including Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, France, the US, the United Kingdom, and Russia, also joined in extending their well-wishes. Notably, some leaders, such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, and UK PM Rishi Sunak, have personally reached out to PM Modi to convey their congratulations.

US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, UK PM Rishi Sunak, France’s Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, along with many others, have hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third-term victory. Congratulatory messages have also arrived from the European Union, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Chinese government, following the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing a majority in the world’s biggest Lok Sabha elections.

Additionally, leaders from India’s neighboring and extended neighboring countries have also sent their greetings. Presidents from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Iran, Seychelles, and Prime Ministers from Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Mauritius have also extended their felicitations. Furthermore, Presidents of Nigeria, Kenya, and Comoros, along with leaders from Caribbean nations such as Jamaica, Barbados, and South America’s Guyana, have also conveyed their congratulations on PM Modi’s third-term victory.

From the G20 nations, the Prime Ministers of Italy, Japan, and the President of South Korea have extended their congratulations to Narendra Modi. Prime Ministers from Singapore and Malaysia in Southeast Asia have also joined in congratulating PM Modi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with its candidates contesting under the banner of Modi, clinched 240 seats and became the largest party in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Accordingly, with the backing of its allies, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) surpassed the 272-majority mark and won the elections.

A noteworthy tweet came from US President Joe Biden who congratulated PM Modi and expressed his commitment to further strengthen India-US ties. He tweeted, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance on their victory, and the nearly 650 million voters in this historic election. The friendship between our nations is only growing as we unlock a shared future of unlimited potential”.

Further, Russian President Vladimir Putin also conveyed his congratulations to PM Modi. French President Emmanuel Macron also extended his felicitations to Narendra Modi on securing his third term as Prime Minister, emphasizing the continued strengthening of the strategic partnership between India and France. He wrote, “India has concluded the world’s largest elections! Congratulations, Narendra Modi, my dear friend. Together, we will continue strengthening the strategic partnership that unites India and France”.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his warmest congratulations to PM Modi on his third consecutive term, expressing his hopes for the friendship between India and Israel to reach new heights. He penned, “I extend my warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being reelected for a third consecutive term. May the friendship between India and Israel continue to surge towards new heights. Badhaai Ho”. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lauded the successful conduct of India’s democratic elections, extending his congratulations to PM Modi and expressing his wishes for continued cooperation between their nations. He said, “I wish the people of India peace and prosperity, and I hope for continued cooperation between our countries. India and Ukraine share common values and a rich history. May our partnership continue to thrive, bringing progress and mutual understanding for our nations”.

The President of Sri Lanka congratulated the BJP-led NDA on their victory, expressing eagerness to enhance partnership with India. He stated, “I extend my warmest felicitations to the BJP-led NDA on its victory, demonstrating the confidence of the Indian people in the progress and prosperity under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi”.

Similarly, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu congratulated Modi and expressed his readiness to collaborate for shared prosperity and stability between their countries. He said, “Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi and the BJP and BJP-led NDA, on their success in the 2024 Indian General Election, for the third consecutive term. “I look forward to working together to advance our shared interests in pursuit of shared prosperity and stability for our two countries”. Overall, congratulatory messages are still pouring in from all corners of the world for the newly elected Indian prime minister of India.
