Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ At the age of 73, Prime Minister Modi was inaugurated for his third term as India’s Prime Minister, thus matching the record set by Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru was India’s first prime minister and served three consecutive terms in 1952, 1957, and 1962. Accordingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with 72 other members of the new coalition administration, took their oaths of office on Sunday. Among them, thirty assume roles as Cabinet Ministers, five hold independent charges, and 36 are designated as Ministers of State. The swearing-in ceremony, held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, attracted a diverse array of attendees from the realms of politics, entertainment, and business.

This historical occasion, marking Modi’s third tenure as Prime Minister, saw the presence of political leaders, dignitaries, and notable personalities from various sectors. In particular, the attendance of Bollywood luminaries lent a touch of glamour to the grand event, garnering significant media coverage. Accordingly, renowned actors such as Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, and Akshay Kumar graced the event, alongside former JNU student leader Shehla Rashid. Additionally, business tycoons Mukesh Ambani, accompanied by his son Anant Ambani, and Gautam Adani, with his wife Priti Adani, were also in attendance.

According to the meteorological office, the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius during the swearing-in ceremony, which unfolded on the lawns of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Accordingly, leaders from the Indian Ocean region and neighboring countries, including Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina; Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu; Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe; Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’; Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth; Bhutanese counterpart Tshering Tobgay; and Vice-President of the Seychelles Ahmed Afif, were among the distinguished guests present.

Top film stars such as Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, and Akshay Kumar also graced the occasion of PM Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony. Additionally, actor-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut, who won the Mandi seat, opted for a white saree for the occasion. Actor Vikrant Massey and director Rajkumar Hirani were also present at Rashtrapati Bhavan, alongside Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon, who adorned a kanjivaram saree paired with mogras in her hair. As Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar met each other, they exchanged greetings and embraced each other before taking their seats. Further, BJP’s newly elected MP from Mathura Lok Sabha constituency, Hema Malini, arrived in a green silk saree and shared her thoughts on PM Modi’s inauguration.

Actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan attended with his wife Anna Lezhneva, while former Bhojpuri film star-singer Manoj Tiwari, actor-BJP politician Dinesh Lal Yadav, and actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani also graced the occasion. In addition to political and entertainment figures, religious leaders, representatives from the transgender community, sanitation workers, lawyers, doctors, artists, cultural performers, influencers, and construction workers engaged in the Central Vista redevelopment project were also present, adding to the diversity of attendees. The event also saw the participation of filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and actor Vikrant Massey. As news of PM Modi’s inauguration spread, social media platforms were inundated with well-wishes and congratulatory messages from a constellation of stars from the film industry.

Prominent leaders from neighboring countries and corporate figures, including Gautam Adani, Rajesh Adani, Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, and Anand Piramal, also graced the historical event. Additionally, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, accompanied by his wife, attended the event, along with former presidents Ram Nath Kovind and Pratibha Patil. PM Modi’s swearing-in ceremony was held on June 9th at 7:15 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. Dignitaries and special invitees from neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region gathered to cheer on the Indian leader. Due to the historical ceremony, strict traffic rules and airspace restrictions were imposed in the national capital. Overall, with the massive attendance of around 8000 guests, PM Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India.
