The expansion of Bristol Airport to be appealed

ENGLAND (Commonwealth Union) – There has been news that the expansion of Bristol Airport might be suspended as there is now a high court appeal made.

This all began when the climate campaigners began to protest the expansion of the airport claiming that the expansion will ruin the flora and fauna in the surrounding area. The North Somerset council had made the initial rejection of the expansion in the year 2020 purely based on environmental grounds. However, this was later overruled by the government planning inspectorate.

The observation behind the overrule is that the expansion will bring in more tourists. It will allow the airport to accommodate almost 2 million more which brings the total amount to 12 million tourist per year.  Apart from this, it would also lessen the road journey to the airport by a massive amount and people would slowly see that the use of petrol for the airport journey would cost a lot less.

Nevertheless, the climate warriors have made an appeal to the high court to stop the expansion and the two-day hearing will begin later on in the week. It will be Bristol’s civil justice center that will examine the appeal and make a decision if this expansion should go on or if it should be stopped immediately.

The media has reported that most people who have done the research before putting up the expansion has made it very clear that by going ahead the expansion it will make things better for Bristol. The increase of tourists would mean that there will be more money coming into the country from which a percentage is given to the environmental causes to make the required changes.

There is also the fact that there will be so many job opportunities for people. Thousands of people can come to of unemployment and start working and supporting themselves financially. This would take a bit of the burden off the government to support them.

Any building expansion would not be good for the environment but in the long run, with technology booming, its very evident that there will be ways to make this expansion a lot greener.
