During his two-week stay in Punjab amidst the general elections, Singh observed that the allegations propagated in the West regarding a compromised Election Commission and faulty voting apparatuses were devoid of merit, thereby emphasizing the legitimacy and equity of the electoral process in the nation. According to Singh, through their electoral choices, the Indian populace has exhibited their prioritization of the nation’s comprehensive advancement. Consequently, Indian democracy has evolved into a more sophisticated entity, fortified by the recent electoral exercise. He stated, “The people of India, through their votes, have demonstrated that they prioritise the nation’s overall development. Indian democracy has emerged more mature, and it has strengthened as a result of the latest elections”.

Addressing inquiries pertaining to Punjab, Singh noted that the elections further overturned allegations of human rights infringements and constraints on freedom. Referring to the inclusivity inherent in India’s democratic structure, he cited instances such as Amritpal Singh, a fervent pro-Khalistan separatist, contesting and securing victory from within prison. Furthermore, Singh also highlighted the candidacy and triumph of the son of Beant Singh, the assassin of Indira Gandhi.

Advocating for the Prime Minister’s leadership for its role in expedited development across India, Singh expressed optimism regarding Modi’s third term, fostering stability and facilitating additional economic growth, thereby nurturing the burgeoning relationship between the United States and India. He stated, “There is optimism that Modi’s third term will bring stability and further economic development. The relationship between the United States and India would continue to improve.”

Furthermore, Singh acknowledged the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) absence of electoral victories in Punjab. However, he underscored the party’s notable surge in vote share, approximately 23%, surpassing that of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Concluding his remarks, Singh affirmed that this upsurge in support signifies the BJP’s expanding influence, laying a robust foundation for forthcoming electoral competitions in the state.
